Temperatures are up and it’s time to have some more fun! This fun can include getting back into shape, or even if you already are, working on your continuing fitness.
Residents at Roberts Communities that have fitness on their mind have struck gold: the Woodlake Estates Fitness Center is now open!
Hours are 6 a.m. to 12 a.m. 7 days a week. There is a clipboard in the room, so please remember to sign it so we can keep track of how many people are enjoying the new fitness center and staying healthy! The fitness center invites residents (only) to use our equipment as they please.
Even though you’re inside, the summer heat can still impact you during your workout. But when it comes to summer fitness, however, there are some things to consider so you can stay healthy and safe.
When your skin is exposed to the sun, protection is very important. But this doesn’t mean that just using sunscreen is going to do the trick. If your workout is in the sun, wear SPF workout clothes that have protection built right into the fabric.
The time of the day matters when it comes to working out, whether it be inside or outside. Early morning and evening workouts are best, considering the hottest times of the day are between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Starting early in the morning or late at night means that when you are on your way to the fitness center, you can avoid the heat, which can be exhausting even after just a few minutes. Besides, starting your workout early in the morning means you get it out of the way and can enjoy the rest of your day!
Hydration is VERY important! In order to combat not only hot temperatures, but also to prevent your body from overheating during a workout, you should always be drinking water or natural, healthy fluids. A trick of the trade is to drink enough water to make your urine clear. That is one way to tell if you are hydrated. Avoid alcoholic and caffeinated beverages.
